Michael Davies has practiced law with global law firms based in New York for over thirty years. He is an experienced mediator and arbitrator, and has been appointed to the mediation and arbitration panels established by New York federal and state courts to preside over alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Michael is regularly called upon to mediate disputes pending in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the New York state courts (including the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court, New York County). Michael has also been appointed to chair arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) and the New York State Fee Dispute Resolution Program.
Prior to establishing his alternative dispute resolution practice, Michael was a commercial litigator, and represented his clients in complex commercial cases from inception through trial and appeal in New York state courts and federal courts throughout the U.S. In the field of international litigation and arbitration, Michael has represented plaintiffs and defendants in U.S. courts and before international arbitral tribunals, litigated on behalf of and against foreign governments and international organizations, and represented parties in aviation related matters.
Michael’s broad ranging expertise developed over his career has enabled him to successfully mediate cases covering a wide variety of subject matters, including contract, corporate and partnership law, intellectual property, real property, personal injury, employment, airline liability (Montreal Convention), taxation, insurance coverage and non-profit organization law.
Michael is bilingual in English and French.
